Job Description

Background:

People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest relief and development organizations in post-communist Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 30 years. From 2009 onwards, PIN has added development programmes to its work in Moldova, building a vision and practices that keep people and communities at the center of our work. Throughout its presence in the country, PIN has been contributing to the development of the following sectors: Sustainable Livelihood and Environment, Social Inclusion and Protection, Good Governance.

Position Overview:

Duty Station: Chisinau, with periodical travel to other project destinations throughout Moldova.

Working under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Officer will support the education and child protection programme response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis, assisting the overall project administration, procurement, coordination of events and activities, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and other on demand tasks of the Country Programme, under the BRICKSS, PLACE, and DEDAL projects.

The EiE Project Officer (PO) reports to the Project Manager who is his/her line manager. S/he closely cooperates with other members of the emergency response team, mainly with the Emergency Coordinator, but also with the Protection Manager for any protection-related tasks. Further, s/he closely cooperates with other PIN departments, especially the Procurement and Logistics department, Communications department, and Finance department, for ensuring compliance and a smooth implementation of daily project activities. For project data reporting, the EiE PO will also cooperate with the MEAL department.

Duties amp; Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support with administrative aspects of the Education projects, under supervision of Project Manager, putting together and following up with procurement requests, filing of relevant documentation in ELO - all project specific files/contracts, associated to technical specifications related to the nature of the project activities;
  • Provide logistical support for trainings, meetings, events, and other project-related activities, and help with translation when needed;
  • Perform regular field visits to support PIN’s local partners and DLC/CFS facilitators, monitor field activities, provide reports on field visits and share them when requested with direct supervisor, Emergency Coordinator (EC), Education in Emergencies Advisor and relevant departments;
  • Communicate with partners under the supervision of Project Manager on reporting, field and donor visits, project events and other projects’ needs as required;
  • In coordination with the Project Manager participate in press conferences, trainings, workshops, round table discussions and other outreach activities.

Furthermore, the Project Officer sets an example to others, and especially the partners, through adhering to, and actively promoting PIN’s Code of Conduct and Core Policies (including Safeguarding, Anti-Corruption, and Whistleblowing policies).

Qualification:

  • Higher education degree in Education or Pedagogy highly preferred.
  • Internship and/or relevant experience with either international organizations, national civil society organizations or educational institutions.
  • At least 1 year of work experience in positions that entail responsibility for project activity implementation or support of local partners; experience in managing/supporting education projects highly preferred
  • Languages: English(required); Romanian/ Russian(desirable);
