We are looking for a Software Quality Assurance Test Lead to join our Engineering team to establish a dedicated Software QA function. The first target will be the team responsible for our in-car commerce platform which enables drivers to pay for fueling, tolling, EV charging and parking from within their vehicle, with the potential for future expansion as the need arises. The right candidate will have proven experience designing and implementing testing strategies for a B2B Software-as-a-Service product. They will have a creative flair for finding and exposing defects within both happy and alternative paths, identifying inconsistencies between documentation and the implementation and automating test suites. The ideal candidate will be able to work within a defined timeframe and budget, providing recommendations and options for risk based approaches where resources do not allow for a full scope. This role also involves working closely with the product amp; development team to understand the software's functionality, identify potential issues, and ensure that the software performs to our high-quality standards.

We are part of a global team, but this role is primarily based in our London office, which is a short walk from London Bridge. Parkopedia maintains a flexible policy with regards to location however the role will require a proportion of time to be spent at the London office.

Test Planning and Strategy:

• Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies based on project requirements and specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers, developers, and business stakeholders to define testing objectives and scope.
• Identify test requirements, test data, and testing environment needs.

Test Execution and Defect Management:

• Execute test cases and test scripts to validate software functionality, performance, and security.
• Document and track defects using bug tracking tools, and work with developers to resolve issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis and provide feedback to the development team for continuous improvement.

Test Automation:

• Evaluate the feasibility of test automation and implement automated test scripts where applicable.
• Monitor and maintain automated test suites, ensuring they remain up-to-date and accurate.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of QA methodologies.
• Implement best practices in software testing and stay updated with the latest industry trends.

Test Reporting and Documentation:

• Generate test reports, status updates, and metrics for project stakeholders.
• Maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test results.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Analyse project risks related to quality and develop mitigation plans.
• Work closely with product managers to address potential quality issues and ensure timely delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in software quality assurance, including test planning and execution, preferably with a focus on testing APIs and SaaS products.
• In-depth understanding of API testing techniques and tools, such as Postman, SoapUI, Rest-Assured, or similar.
• Proficiency with automation tools and scripting languages such as Selenium, Java, Python, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and experience with data validation.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies, particularly Scrum.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically and strategically.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
